OKAY ANYWAYS, since most of you guys have paid for the year 2008 yesterday, I would like to thank you so very much for your co-operation:) Well Done^^

But for those who still have a few more months to go, I would really appreciate it if you guys can bring the money on Sunday (22/3) and pay up your funds for 2008... We only have a few people left. Your names are highlighted, together with the amount you still owe...

That's 2008. Now 2009. I am thinking of a new system, it's called the "get it over and done with" system. Basically, everyone will not pay $2 every month at the start of the month anymore.

Instead, everyone just brings $24 next week to pay off for the whole year, and makes everyone's lives easy... You wont be sian-ed by me chasing you for money and I won't have to feel bad to keep chasing you either:) How does that sound? Let me know which one you prefer okay:)

Hey SF!~ I am taking this opportunity where most of you will frequent this blogg and thus, i am proud to remind you that CG fund will resume collections from this sunday onwards. Sorry, I have been slacking the past few months:( Been so busy and I only realised when I dug out the treasury fund box. ~~I even had to dust it~~...

I have uploaded the fund list at the start of the post, so do click on it and check how many months you are lagging behind, and hopefully you guys are able to bring the money by this sunday (15 Mar 09) so that we can clear off 2008 and wrap it up nicely. Then next week onlwards I will collect for Jan/Feb/Mar for 2009.

Hey guys, just decided to share my testimonial with you guys since jordan also wants us to upload it on sf blog:) have fun reading^^

I was born into a Christian family since young, but only started attending church when Aunty Grace brought me to AMKPC when I was in primary 2. I was quite an active member in the Sunday school classes until I stopped attending church for almost a year due to certain reasons. My mum then brought me over to her church, hoping that i would be able to pick up attending church regularly again but things got worse for me there. I dreaded going to church every Sunday, till the extent I would even attend church just for the sake of attending church. I wasn’t happy with the way things were being carried out there and I even remembered crying on the first day of Sunday school! It was somewhat similar to a culture shock for me because it was just so foreign there. Everything seemed so bleak, empty and meaningless for me. I was lost; I needed to get back on my two feet again and regain my lost faith in the Lord.

Therefore, my mum suggested me to go back to AMKPC since I was unhappy at my old church. I agreed to it and after my PSLE exams in 2006, I returned to AMKPC and decided that I would start my Christian life anew, and live my way as a good Christian and to be more God centered.

But it did not go the way I wanted to. Along the journey of seeking lost faith during my secondary one days, I tried to accomplish these tasks of becoming a God-centered and spiritually fed person, but I was greatly taken aback by my mood swings and emotional hijacks. I couldn’t control my emotions as easily. These often led to me doing things to hurt myself both emotionally and physically, thus not only affecting the love ones around me, but also and most importantly drifting further and further away from God. I was again, lost and helpless spiritually – this time to a greater degree. I really needed someone to be there for me, someone who could be a friend to listen to me cry, to listen to me pour out my sorrows, and to be with me wherever I am and to remove the fear in me. Time passed. I personally felt that my emotional problems were misleading to a lot of things and created more problems for me. I decided it was time to snap out of it and I consulted my leaders for help. They advised me to pray and submit myself to him and soon, I gradually grew to know that person was actually God! All this while he was just right beside me; holding me, supporting me, giving me strength, encouraging me to hang on and that there is nothing to fear. It was just that I didn’t realize it myself.

Therefore after this period of time, I learnt to commit myself; surrender myself to him and to know that so long as he is there, I need not be afraid because I know he will be there to tide through any rough patches with me, and not let me suffer by myself. Like Philippians 4:13 says “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”. I finally felt redeemed and relieved – to know that Jesus is always and forever with me!

After going through so many things in life, I felt that the Lord God really played an important role in my life. He helped me not only to get out of my emotional swings, but most importantly to draw closer to him. Thus, I have decided to commit myself entirely to him through baptism this Christmas, and live my life as a God centered Christian. :)

Otherwise, you can arrange to meet up with me or the rest of the CG leaders to complete the study. :D

After that, we'll start our new curriculum of "Come, Follow Me" book 4.2...

From what we discussed after service just now, next week after sermon all will go to alvin's house straight till about 9pm? (Eunice, Shu Li and I will go around 2 plus 3 as we have baptism classes)..

Alvin booked the DVD room till 3 to 4 I think, followed by BBQ .

Yes, I agree with Kim. I guess Term 3’s a pretty hectic term for all of us, with projects, tons of homework and never-ending tests. But, God will be there to bring us through all these times! He’s ALWAYS there for us, never letting us go in whatever trials we may experience. He WILL be there, whether we’re studying or taking exams. Just do what our human strength can do and let God do the rest okay? Just thought of these few lines while writing this :D

Hey salted fishers! Daryl here. Just a little post on what we've been doing in Aussie and also some lessons I've learnt.

As the title suggests, recently me and Janael just picked up the new sport of fishing. Janael, true to her cell group's name managed to catch quite a few fish. Actually, none of them were true fish. Anyway, more on that later.

As we went fishing, I also thought about how God has called us to be fishers of men in Matthew 4:19, hence the cell group name. But have you ever thought about how apt that description is? Well, I think most of us have never tried fishing before, but it's a fun experience, and helps you understand a lot better why Jesus chose to describe evangelism as fishing. I mean, why didn't Jesus choose another description? He could have said "Come follow me, and I will make you teachers of men". Or maybe "feeders of men", as the disciples would spread the bread of life? Perhaps it would do with the disciple's professions. Out of the twelve disciples Jesus called, the three who were the closest to him were Peter, James and John. And what were they before they became disciples? Fishermen!

Now, why did Jesus choose to call common everyday people to be part of the Twelve? And of all the professions, why fishermen? I guess it would be because fishermen are best able to appreciate and understand the efforts of spreading the gospel.

Now, back to me and Janael's fishing trip. As I was saying, Janael managed to catch the most fish. Well, she didn't exactly catch anything she could eat. We went on two fishing trips. The first time was on a boat, and we managed to catch a stingray. However, it was not so much what we caught that was exciting, but the process by which we caught it.

First of all, we started up the boat and selected a nice spot for fishing. Our dad baited the hook, then taught us how to cast the rod. The first few times I almost killed someone with the hook (just kidding), then finally gt the hang of it. In the same way, before we go fishing for men, we should prepare ourselves first. Sometimes we have the more experienced ones to teach us, and that's when we learn how to use evangelistic tools. In fishing, the evangelistic tools can be likened to the bait, to make people interested to listen. However, the bait is useless without the rod, and this rod is the Bible-the backbone that gives truth to the evangelistic tools that we use.

After waiting for about half an hour there with absolutely no fish, we decided to pick up the rods and try another spot. Again, when we fish for men, we will never always be able to get a catch. Sometimes we plan an evangelistic event, but no one comes. Sometimes we send out twenty Christmas cards telling of the greatest gift, but we receive not even one response. When that happens, we need to learn to never give up, and sometimes to try a different tactic, much in the same way that we moved to another spot.

After moving to another spot and not catching any fish, we decided to just take the time to go boating. It was then that my father decided to go look for spots where other people were fishing. True enough, we spotted a couple fishing not far off. "vroom" went the motor, and we went to that spot. In the first five minutes of casting the rod, we managed to catch a stingray! That night, we brought it back to Uncle Jeffrey's place (we were staying over), cleaned it and prepared it for cooking (ie. chop off the fins, throw away the rest). This was one lesson that if we try hard enough, eventually we will get a catch. After that, it is time to prepare the person for his new life of Christianity, which is something like cleaning the fish, because now it is time to go through the process of sanctification (becoming more holy and Christ-like).

Of course, in fishing, people always talk about the one that got away. That's because the struggle with the fish is not easy. You need to pull hard enough to reel the fish in, yet not too hard so that the string won't break. We had that experience the next day after our boating trip when we went fishing at the river. We had cast our rods, and then suddenly we saw Janael's rod tug very violently, so violently that the rod almost fell since she wasn't holding it. Immediately, all of us (me, my dad, Janael, Uncle Jeffrey and Reuel) rushed to that rod and took turns reeling it in. It wasn't an easy fight, and once it was close enough for us to see we realised it was a giant stingray! No wonder it tugged so hard. Sadly, we got it all the way to the side of the river before it broke the string and swam off.

Our experience in fishing for, well, fish is not unlike our experience in fishing for men. When we try to share Christ with our friends, it is never easy. We need to share enough for the person to make a decision, and yet we know that the cross offends so we are not willing to go full force. Indeed, many of us struggle with the question "How can I share Christ to my friend and not lose him in the process?" Some of us even get very close to bringing the person to Christ. They may have been going to church for a while, but then something happens like a death in the family, and then "Snap!" the line breaks, and the person is as far from God as he was before.

Thank God that is where the similarity ends. For although in fishing we try to pull it in with human strength, as fishers of men, we know that the Holy Spirit convicts those we are trying to reach.

What a wonderful experience that God has blessed us with to let us understand the Word so much better!

There will be a new children's movie out in December called "The GoldenCompass". The movie has been described as "atheism for kids"and is based on the first book of a trilogy entitled "His DarkMaterials" that was written by Phillip Pullman.
Pullman is a militantatheist and secular humanist who despises C. S. Lewis and the "Chronicles of Narnia". His motivation for writing this trilogy was specifically to counteract Lewis' symbolisms of Christ that are portrayed in the Narnia series.
Clearly, Pullman's main objective is to bash Christianity and promote atheism. Pullman left little doubt about his intentions when he said in a 2003interview that "my books are about kil ling God." He has even stated that he wants to "kill God in the minds of children". It has been said of Pullman that he is "the writer the atheists would be praying for, if atheists prayed." While "The Golden Compass" movie itself may seem mild and innocent,the books are a much different story. In the trilogy, a young streetwise girl becomes enmeshed in an epic struggle to ultimately defeat the oppressive forces of a senile God. Another character, an ex-nun, describes Christianity as "a very powerful and convincing mistake." In the final book,characters representing Adam and Eve eventually kill God, who at times is called YAHWEH.
Each book in the trilogy gets progressively worse regarding Pullman's hatred of Jesus Christ. "The Golden Compass" is set to premier on December 7,during the Christmas season (and staring Nicole Kidman), and will probably be heavily advertised. Promoters hope that unsuspecting parents will take their children to see the movie, that they will enjoy the movie, and that the children will want the books for Christmas.

Please consider a boycott of the movie and the books. Also, pass thisinformation along to everyone you know (including church leaders). This will help to educate parents, so that they will know the agenda of the movie. I am sending this to those of you who have kids or friends with kids, grandkids orhave influence with kids. So many things today are darkness concealed in what appears to be innocent.

was doing my assignment in the school library and also reading a book when a thought came to mind... A question for all of us to ponder.

"What do we come to church for?" more specifically what do you come to church for?

What is our motivation? Our purpose?

I'd admit that sometimes church can become physically draining and tiring with all the work that needs to be done... even talking to other people can become tiring :p

Yet, week in and week out... we come to church. Why?
Why do you come to church?

YAYYE! :D *clap clap* okay, anyway do take time to read through this article okay? cos i have spent ??? amount of time on this (will time myself and tell you all at the end). The time now is 4.25pm. haha. oh and you can edit my article if you would like to! :) Sorry, parts of this article are similar to what I wrote in my passing it on article. xD

Results;
I have chosen this topic because i know that most of us should have got back our results for the end-of-years by now. Some of us may be ecstatic over our results and be really really pleased with it. (as we had never expected these kind of results before.) However, some of us may be wondering why God had given us such terrible results, even though we have put in our best effort and really tried our best. Many of us may ask, ‘Why?’ I too, really do not know why God did that to us. All I can say is that God will never want to do us any harm in our lives. God has His own reasons for doing such a thing to us. Maybe He feels that we have not trusted enough in Him and wants us to trust Him more? Maybe He wants us to let these terrible results to be a wake-up call to us to study harder? Jesus said, "I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.” John 15:5. Jesus simply wants us to trust in Him and surrender all our weaknesses to Him. When we do so and look to Him for help, he will bless us and allow us to ‘bear much fruit’. I can fully understand what many of us are going through now as I have experienced this feeling too. I feel that I have already tried my best and practiced all I could. At times, I too, wonder why God had given me these results. I guess this is a wake-up call for me (as higher Chinese is the only subject I am taking for ‘O’ levels.) and if I want to drop Chinese in JC, I have to get at least a B3 (is that right daryl?). On the other hand, despite my terrible results for Chinese, I have to still thank God for my other subjects for I have done much better than I had expected. So all salted fishers who are still disappointed with regard to your results, cheer up and look on the bright side of things! And jut work harder and trust God more in the next exam! there is another online petition asking for a repeal (meaning to de-criminalise, meaning making it lawful)

this is a tremendously important time for all Christians to make a stand...
we hate the sin, not the sinners.. however, to de-criminalize homosexual activities is to deny the Word of God, which means to deny God...
and that is a no-no...

Hi there SF...

almost wanted to simply place a tag but i realised that sometimes our tags are buried under all the "spam" messages... :p
Not that i am against the free giving, encouraging nature of you people.. (and i love spam, luncheon meat. :p )
Anyway... as i listen to all the prayer requests and stressed little faces of you people in the midst of exams, i am reminded to have more urgency and pay more attention to my own work. Sometimes i feel as though i'm really too relaxed and seems to "procrastinate" :p

but i was really encouraged by the number of people who came for CG last sunday... goes to show that God is a greater draw to you than the worries of the world... Praise the Lord.

While exams are finishing for you students, mine is still yet to happen... Exam week for me is in mid-Nov. Meanwhile, i have a list of papers to research and write on..
Do keep me in prayers...

Anyway, i managed to finish one paper today!! Praise the Lord...
It's a 2 page paper, double spaced... but it's a lot more work than expected.. :(

hmmm i am like so sad now? i really feel lousy... i wonder why god wanted to create me...hmmm i wonder what plans he has for me...also nothing can come out of me de...so useless and all the negative things that u can think of...

i really want to cryyyyyyy... cry all my sorrows and blood out... the wounds are getting more painful as the day goes by...

i had a severe nightmare yesterday night. it was that i failed my geog and one more thing. all my fwens left me. they hated me because of who i was. it was so scary. can u imagine? all your friends left u because of who u are? Yes i know i am stupid and all tts why i wun be surprised man... but i woke up. sobbing. how can that happen? how can my fwens hate me for who i am? i am really in a need of help... MY FWENS ACTUALLY HATES ME FOR WHO I AM! i felt so horrid.

from that nightmare i had, i learnt one thing. i had to face up to reality... i was stupid/idiotic and all the negative things u can find in the dictionary about me... i had to accept the fact. no choice. wad to do? got such nightmare...

well, all i can say that u guys have been really good to me and i will lurbb u forever...but i am like the song in this mv...tian hui... wherby my skies are always gray...

Hey salted fishers! First of all, Well done to the people who helped out in today's All mighty kids event (rebecca, geraldine, kim, chua, eunice, marc, nicholas etc etc) and to daryl for planning and executing this event so well! steph gave me a poem about exams... (dunno whether she gave ya'll too)...is it really the grades that matter to us most? or is it God's Greatness? Hmmm read the poem and u will know!

Grades Greatness or Grace

Man Looks at our grades
but GOD looks at our faith.
Though grades appeal to man,
God only requires the best.
The best may be "F" or "A",
But God says "Be not dismayed",
For its never a disgrace to fail,

i hope that even tho u may be busy with ur EOY preps, we should still turn up for CG next week, as this is the time we really need god's guidance, help and strength the most. come for cg k, we'll be all praying for your exams that he will be there with u during the exams.

how are ya'll? lol i am like super sick cos todae i felt so weak and groggy....also wanna throw up badly...yucks man-.-i wanna complain against my school for horrible architecture design. its like my goodness they are not handicap friendly lahx. like the staircase can dun have railing de hor! ta ma de mans...RAH i shant bother. lol cos my school is the dumbest school i have ever been to. so nothing to comment full stop.

how are your exam preps coming along? damn it i still cannot get zhou jie lun off my mind neh~ its like halfway thru my revision suddenly "zhuan sheng li kai, ni you hua shuo bu chu lai...wei lan de shan hu hai..." and "jiu suan shi wo bu dong~ neng bu neng yuan liang wo"...my goodness i really neeed to be yuan lianged if my mum finds out de...SF dun be like me hor...lol.

anyways, i am gonna go to korea during christmas! yay i am chao excited lahs...lol taking singapore airline. cos its been a long time since i took SIA liaox. so now gona takke SIA to seoul... Weeeets! its chao ji bang man! haha...but i must focus! haha exams first. (see i very good with priorites de wor...very good right! must learn frm me hor! haha ego-ing...xD)
